Four of the participating wineries are providing the wines for a roving lunch for media guests to highlight both the quality of the wines on show at the We Love Wine @ Capegate Wine Festival on 26 and 27 August, and show off some of the eateries in this regional shopping Mall.

Villiera Brut Rosè is the perfect start to any occasion and set the mood with savoury snacks, courtesy of Montagu Dried Fruit and Nuts and Joubert and Monty Famous Biltong.  Assistant winemaker at Villiera Nathan Valentine was on hand to explain more about this very well-known bubbly from one of SA’s top producers.

Guests then moved to Mugg and Bean downstairs in the Centre where one of the new dishes from their “smoked” menu was served with just-bottled Edgebaston’s Berry Box White 2016.  This fruity white wine could stand up to the smokey, spicy, lime/chilli chicken bites and Marketing Manager Annemie Adriaanse explained more about this wine, which will be just released at the festival.

Popular Torrador Bistro was the scene for the main course where Groenland Wines’ Shiraz will be served with their gourmet beef burger topped with caramelised onion and bacon.  Kosie Steenkamp patriarg of this Stellenbosch Winery will be present to chat about the farm and this particular wine.  Torrador will be serving Groenland wines for the rest of August.

Limnos Bakery was the scene for a decadent dark chocolate dessert extravaganza which was served with boutique Calitzdorp producer Peter Bayly Wines’ Late Bottled Vintage Port 2008 whose  lusciously smooth palate is perfect for a dessert course, especially with a coffee.

Participating wineries at the Festival are Alexanderfontein/Ormonde, Arendskloof/Eagle’s Cliff, Beyerskloof Wines, Biocape Wines, Bonnievale Cellar, Diemersfontein Wines, Dieu Donnè Vineyards, Deux Frères Wines, Du Toitskloof Wines, Edgebaston, Eerstehoop Wines, Fledge & Co, Groenland, Imbuko Wines, La Couronne Wine Estate,  MWS, Orange River Cellars,  Overhex Wines International, Perdeberg Winery, Peter Bayly Wines, Stellenbosch Hills, Villiera Wines, Villiersdorp Cellar and Yonder Hill Wines.

The Pebbles Project, which looks after disadvantaged children, especially those impacted by alcohol, is the charity beneficiary of the festival and will be present to spread their message and raise funds and awareness.
